Katherine Perdomo Blog #4
The House on Mango Street is about a girl named Esperanza. She recently moved into a new house that she doesn't like at all. She always pictured a new home in her mind, but the home she just moved into was the exact opposite of her imagination. It was hard for her to make new friends her age because her first friends were the age of her younger sister, Nenny. She goes through struggles of growing up and puberty. At the end of the book, she meets three psychic women, and tells her that her dream of getting a new home that she always wanted will come true.
The House on Mango Street is based on a true story and isn't that bad of a book. My opinion, I've read other books that were better and hadn't made me so bored. I would rate the book 5.5-6 out of 10. If you would want to see a Spanish girl's perspective of her becoming a woman, than this will be a good book for you to read.
